While doing research for a future multi-generational master planned community in Los Angeles County, our Vice President of Advisory
Adam McAbee recently toured all of the actively selling age-restricted communities in Southern California. Most of the projects he visited offered a variety of product types and a large central clubhouse that help create the “resort-like lifestyle” that today’s seniors are looking for. The subject of our video above, however, is not the great amenities at Shea’s private (and optional) Polo Club, such as the planned 25,000 square foot clubhouse with full-service restaurant, “grab and go” market, teaching kitchen, pools, tennis, pickleball, etc. (see site plan below) – particularly since it will not even open until 2015. What stood out at this project was the feel and design of the product. As of the timing of our field visit in August, 55 of the 999 total units had sold at
Trilogy at The Polo Club since opening in February 2014, in spite of a location on the far eastern edge of Indio in the Coachella Valley and a price point at the top of the regional active adult market.
